Fixed Cargo Intake Calculation

Updated: Nov 24

Fixed Intake of Cargo Calculation tool interface with input fields for cargo, fuel, and ballast weight.

The Fixed Intake of Cargo Tool simplifies draft calculations at both the departure and arrival points of a voyage 🌊. This online tool is perfect when the cargo weight is already known, and the goal is to determine the ship's Mid Mean Draft at both points. The calculation process is divided into two independent parts, ensuring precise results tailored to each point ✅.

How the Fixed Intake of Cargo Calculation Works

The tool is divided into two sections:

Part 1: Departure Point Calculation 🛳️

In this section, you’ll enter data specific to the ship’s departure point. Required input fields include:

  • Cargo on Board

  • Density 🌊

  • Fuel Oil

  • Diesel Oil

  • Lube Oil

  • Slop/Sewage

  • Ballast ⚖️

  • Fresh Water 💧

  • Other Known Weights

  • Constant

All required fields are marked with a red border to guide you through the process 🔴.

Part 2: Arrival Point Calculation ⚓

The second section focuses on the ship’s arrival point. You’ll use the same data fields as in Part 1. Once the required details are entered, the program calculates the draft for both points based on the calculated displacement 📊.

Key Points for Calculation

  • Density Requirement: This tool operates on a fixed density of 1.025 🌊.

  • Draft Calculation: After finding the table draft based on displacement, the draft is recalculated according to the density entered for each specific point 🔄.

Hydrostatic Data Input

The tool provides two options for hydrostatic data input:

  1. Manual Entry: Enter hydrostatic data manually for precise draft and displacement calculations.

  2. Insert Data from Hydrostatic Tables: If hydrostatic data is already saved in the Hydrostatic Tables section of the Ship’s Data page, click Insert Data to automatically populate the required values 🔄.

This flexibility ensures accurate results while saving time for pre-configured ships.

Additional Tools and Features

💡 Displacement Converter: Quickly adjusts displacement to the required density.

🔄 Draft Converter: Adjusts draft to the required density.

📖 Record Book: Located at the top of the page, this is perfect for keeping personal notes and records 📝.

Final Steps: Save and Print

Once all data has been entered, complete the final fields:

  • Date, Voyage, Cargo, and Remarks (if any) 📅.

Click the Save button to ensure all details are updated. Then, use the Print button to generate a printout 📄. To print or save as a PDF, click the printer icon in the top-right corner 🖨️.

Why Use the Fixed Intake of Cargo Tool? 🌟

This tool provides a quick and reliable method for calculating your ship’s draft at two key points in a voyage. It’s an invaluable resource for mariners who need prompt and accurate results 📈.

Note

Preparation: Before starting the calculation, navigate to the Ship's Data page to fill in and save the ship data, including the Hydrostatic Tables section for automatic data insertion.
